The City of Swan is the largest local government area within metropolitan Perth, Western Australia, covering more than 1,043 square kilometres. We are less then half an hour from the CBD.
Characterised by a diversity of landscape and community, the City of Swan is considered a region in its own right. Residents and visitors are attracted to both the rural and urban character, natural features, and historical significance of the region.
The vast and diverse physical landscape of the City of Swan encompasses the boundary between the coastal plain and the Darling escarpment, which includes agricultural lands, national parks and large and growing urban areas. The City of Swan also boasts the largest river frontage in Perth, with the Swan and Helena Rivers meandering through the region.
The City of Swan is one of the fastest growing regions in Western Australia, with a diverse economic base and strong economic sectors including retailing, manufacturing, property and business services, agriculture, wholesale trade and construction.
The City is also home to the Swan Valley, a renowned viticulture area with a proud history of table grape cultivation and fine wine production. Midland is the major commercial and administrative centre for the City of Swan, located 19 kilometres north east of the Perth Central Business District. It is also the northern and eastern gateway to Western Australia, with both the Great Northern and Great Eastern National Highways passing through Midland.
